Perimeter is the measurement of the outside of the shape.

The area is the inside of a flat shape.

CM means centimeter

CM2  means centimeters squared. 


We can use skip counting to help us.
We can use our X to help us too.

Medium Gorilla

A gorilla is frightening.  A gorillas teeth are as sharp as scissors so he has terrifying teeth to chomp trees.  Two huge teeth at the top and two humongous teeth at the bottom.  

A gorillas body is as soft as pillows and he's black and barefoot.  Threatening and thumping on his chest.  

His ears listen and they are as small as mice.  Smelly illy ears, smelly as garbage.

As the gorilla talked he growled and bossed me around. As he listened for other animals his ears flopped and wiggled. He thumped on his chest and threatened me and gobbled me up.  If I saw a gorilla I would feel frightened and shaky and I would think to run, run, run, run away.

Dark Man Job

Dear Sir,

I wish to be a super villain to kill the snake monster.   

My name is Dark Man. I like to turn everything DARK with my dark wand so that the other baddies can’t see me ha ha ha. So that I can take away their cars, and wallets so they can't drive far away.  I am strong as 30 elephants so I could push him far away.  I can fly very fast because I have super villain flying fast power. I can fly to him easy with my cape.  

I will SCARE  him by making it very dark so he could shake.    I can pick up a very heavy rock because i’m strong and fly  up to the monster and drop the huge rock . The rock tumbles down on to him from his head to his tummy.

The rock would be so heavy that he would fall down to the ground and never ever be seen again.

I like being on time because it makes me someone to rely on. Im good at my job.  I have been doing my job over 100 years, so I have had lots and lots of practice making everything DARK.

Royden's Matariki Myth

The Star Legend by Royden

Every night we can see the stars twinkling in the sky, but there is one star that doesn’t have a name.

A comet crashed and dropped a star. “But the star  needs to be in the sky.” I told the comet. “I’m sorry.” said the comet. “I do not know how to bring the stars to the sky. I only know how to drop them to the ground. Silly me!” said the comet.  The comet sneezed and blew a star in the sky from the ground and that is how the star got to the sky.

So I have decided to name it one of my friends names. I could call it Emma O, I could call it Yana Lata or if I wanted to name it, I could name the star my mums name, Lynne.

The 1 star was sad because he wanted his parents to find him. His Mum and Dad got up up up and up into the night sky by a biger comet who made a huge AOOOOOCHO.

Mummy star said to the comet ‘I want to have all the family together, BECAUSE IT MAKES ME ANGRY when I’m not with the rest of the family, now SNEEZE THEM UP”

So the comet made the biggest sneeze he ever made.  It went “a, a, a, a, a, a, a CHOOOOOOOO!”

He sneezed 1 brother star and 3 sisters up up up into the sky.

Then they all were up up up up up up up up in the sky.

They were happy happy happy because they were in the sky and they all were together.
