Playground Carnival

Playground Carnival

I hear people screaming loudly on the scary rollercoaster ride as I wait fearfully in the squiggly line of people.

The smell of sausages sizzling in a giant steaming pan drifts through the air towards us.

I close my eyes and I can hear what seems like a very naughty clown banging on a metal slide and the whack of a ball thrown at a girl. I hear a painful scream and the ongoing cry of the ? 7 year old SOOKY MEAN GIRL.

I feel like doing the same back to the VILLAIN clown and i say ha ha ha ha ha.

Neptune

We have been learning about planets.
I wrote a report on Neptune.

NEPTUNE
Neptune is a planet. It is the furthest planet and is the 8th planet away from the sun.
Neptune is 4,498,000,000km from the sun. It is nearly impossible to see even through a powerful telescope.

From far away Neptune looks blue.
Neptune has rings and it has  14 moons. Neptune’s moon names are
  1. Triton
  2. Laomedeia
  3. S/2004N1
  4. Nereid
  5. Halimede
  6. Proteus
  7. Despina
  8. Psamathe
  9. Sao
  10. Larissa
  11. Galatea
  12. Naiad
  13. Thalassa
  14. Neso
Neptune is extremely cold. Neptune is the windiest planet.  It has winds 2000 km an hour. Neptune is a gas planet.  It is a bit like a frozen coke on the surface.

It takes Neptune 165 Earth years to orbit the sun. A day on Neptune is 16 hours and 6 minutes.  Earth’s days are longer than days on Neptune and are 24hrs.

Neptune was discovered in 1846 by an astronomer called Johann Galle.

Some day you might be lucky to go to Neptune and see all of its 14 moons. Hopefully, you won’t die from the freezing cold or be blown away in the forceful winds!

Writing my 5's

This week I learnt how to write 5’s so everyone can read them. I tell myself to go left, then go down, then bump.
Next I’m practicing to do 9’s so everyone can read them.

Chapter 16 of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

This book is starting to make me think about the fence.  Why can't they just break the fence in 2 parts? Shmuel is lonely, Bruno is lonely and let them be together and play.  I'm starting to think about the soldiers that they have built the fence so that no one will go on the other side, I don't think that's very fair.

The Spooky Forest

I wrote a narrative writing.
I learned how not to tell the reader exactly what happened but describe about the spooky forest.   How it felt, what I saw, what I was thinking, what I heard.

I am walking through the dark spooky forest. The trees are dark green and very scary.  It’s night time and I hear something.   I hear an owl tahooting. The branches of the trees are scraping scratching.  The wind is shooshing around the treetops.  Suddenly I hear footsteps  and the footsteps are coming my way.

I gasp.  I feel like I want to hide.  My heart is pumping very fast. I feel frightened of something.  I see a tree that’s not shaking and I decide to climb it as fast as a cheetah.  I hold on to the tree very tightly.  Im at the top and I’m spying to see what’s down there.

I feel terrified.  Then I see a Baxon and I hide amongst all the leaves.  I hope that he doesn’t see me.  But I can see him.  I see a whole lot of blue eyes. He has 8, and a long yellow tail that dragged behind him. I am now stuck in the tree as quiet as a mouse.

I could climb down but he will see me and cook me, I could move a little bit, but he would see me, I could make a noise but then he would hear me.  The safe thing to do is ring somebody for help. I quietly get my phone out.  I push the phone buttons 9 1 7 6. I hear the Baxon catcher on the phone.  I whisper “Please get rid of the Baxon, I am in the dark forest, in a tree please help me.”
“Ill bring a sharp red cage to trap this scary Baxon” said the Baxon catcher.

I wait in this tree until the Baxon catcher arrives.  The Baxon is looking around for a toy to play with.
The Baxon catcher arrives in a green truck.  I see a sharp red cage.  The Baxon comes towards the green truck he sees the Baxon catcher and the Baxon thinks that the red sharp cage is his toy.  He tries to play with it but CRACK the red sharp cage falls on top of him and traps him inside.
The Baxon catcher sneaks up and carries it to his green truck.

I am safe.  I climb down at last.  I feel happy.  I find my way out of the forest by a sign.  I’m happy to be safe from the Baxon.Maybe next time I won’t walk into a dark spooky forest, lucky to have my phone in my pocket.

The whitebait life cycle with my buddy in room 8

We went to room 8 to work on the whitebait cycle.  I showed Summer how to save the pictures on google on my I Pad.  We had to find pictures that we needed and work out the facts.  We had some eggs and found out how the eggs turned into whitebait.  I liked the way that we pasted the pictures on the google slide.

The wonderful Royden's Frog Cycle

This week I was learning about the frog cycle.  I learnt about eggs called frogspawn, how the frogspawn turns into tadpoles and tadpoles get legs and a tail. Then they get their front legs, then they get onto the land, then it makes the adult frog, and it all happens all over again and again and again. We did an explanatory sentence on the frog cycle and paragraph after paragraph. It was tricky but I had a great time.

Royden's Frog Cycle

A frog is a tailless amphibian with a short squat body, moist smooth skin, and very long hind legs for leaping.  Frogs live on land and in water like ponds. Frogs can be green some frogs can be brown.  Frogs lay eggs, lots of eggs and sooner or later those eggs change into frogs.

Frogs start their live in water.  They lay hundreds of eggs could frogspawn
That float on top of the water.  Some of them are eaten by fish.  The eggs start to change shape and grow. It starts to have a tail and a head.  After about 10 days, the eggs have grown into tadpoles and wriggle wriggle out. They have grown gills.

Gills help the tadpoles breathe oxygen under water. The gills are on the tadpoles  neck.  The gills look like feathers on the tadpoles neck.  Next they start to grow.
Small tadpoles eat water plants.  Bigger tadpoles eat small water animals. They eat and eat and start to grow their hind legs.  Then they grow lungs to breathe now they have to go up to the surface to breathe again.

Next they grow their front legs then they use their hind legs for swimming. Their back legs are like duck feet that are webbed.  It helps them swim better. The young growing frogs have still got a tail to help them swim.

Just after that the tail starts to shenk.  The tadpole is now a froglet and he jumps everywhere. A froglet size is as small as a 10 cent coin.  A froglet uses his tongue to catch flies and insects.  The froglet grows into an adult frog.  When a frog is 3 years old it lays frogspawn and the frog cycle starts all over again.

... the leaf green tree frog ...

I have also started doing a picture of aboriginal dot art.

Explanatory writing

WALT: Plan and construct a paragraph.... Bunk beds, Apartment-Flat ...

A bed is a soft object that people sleep on .  It has a mattress, a pillow, blankets and a bed head to stop the pillow going on the floor.  To find a bed, look in a bedroom.  An example of a bed is a bunk bed.
A bunk bed has a ladder and is split up into 2 beds.  One is on the top and one is on the bottom.
Bunk beds are good if people come to stay, or if you had a small room.
There are different sorts of mattresses for bunk beds like spring and foam.  Spring mattresses have springs inside them.  Foam mattresses are made with foam.
Pillows are comfy and soft.  We use them at the end of our bed to put our head on.

We put blankets all over us to keep us warm at night.  You can get a special blanket to keep you warm called an electric blanket.

Conversation Poem

Conversation Poem

Late again Mr Royden Giles!!!
Because Spongebob came to visit me
Well you could have brought him to school with you to share with your friends
Well there is air in the school.
Tell Spongebob to hold his breath
He can’t do that because he is a sea creature and only can take my house air.
Next time tell him to visit in the weekend
He can’t, he has to play with Patrick and feed Gary on the weekends.
Well he could visit after school then
No, because he has to go to work at the Krusty Krab
Well then maybe you could just talk on the phone then
We can’t get a signal because Spongebob’s way below in the water
Ok then Mr Giles, you’re here now, let’s get some work done

I can’t because Spongebob’s coming to visit!

Remember When Poem
Remember when I fell off my chair at home.  I was frightened.   My body felt shaky. My arm was HURTING like a deep bruise.  My arm felt sore like a TIGER'S  CLAW touched it.
My left foot was twisted- pointy twisted towards mum. IT'S LIKE THE CHAIR WANTED TO EAT MEEEE!
That was my fall.

Didgeri doo Poem

Nonsense Poem

  1. First we had to think of 3 different animals.
  2. We had to put them in order.
  3. We had to think of some verbs or doing words starting with the letter that the animal starts with.
  4. We had to think of some words that rhymed with ‘doo’. Like poo, shoe, achoo, you, blue, loo, who, flu.
  5. Then we had to put it all together and to make sure that it makes sense in a poem.
  6. We had to use imagination and alliteration.  Alliteration means the starting letter is the same.
This is my nonsense Poem

Dogs
Dig like diggers,
Cats can catch the flu,
Goldfish grumble like grandpas,
But what does a didgeri doo?
Cows can not carry huge cars,
Pigs ponder playing in poo,
Foxes fart on flowers,
But what does a didgeri doo?
Elephants eat rainbow eggs,
Tigers take treasure and say boo,
Lions lie down like ladies,
But what does a didgeri,
What does a didgeri,
What does a didgeri doo?

Holidays

My holidays started on Saturday.  We had Tori coming over to help me look after Mum because Mum was getting her teeth out.  Bev came to see Tori.  I had a sleep over with Reilly and we played MONSTERS.  One person is the monster and the other person has to be scared of that person and runs away. The monster has to try and catch that person for dinner.  The next morning Reilly had to go home at lunchtime.
Then Tori had to go home and left Mum and me at home.

The next week I was excited to get a new book about little rabbit foo foo that came with a D.V.D because the book was no ordinary book.  First rabbit foo foo bumped field mice on the head, then he bumped wiggly worms on the head, then it was the tigers.
Before I got my book, I went to lunch with Helen at the Bonsai.  I had chicken nuggets and chips and it was delicious.
When I got home I watched the Rabbit Foo Foo D.V.D but when it finished this D.V.D. did not have a main menu.
Then on Sunday afternoon we went and saw The Jungle book movie.  We jumped most of the movie because of  shol con the TIGER.  The movie was about a brave young boy and it was called THE JUNGLE BOOK. The boy was brave because he saved the Jungle from a tiger.  My two weeks holiday was super duper exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
