Italy

This week I have been learning about Italy.  I learnt my teacher's name in Italian.  Miss Power is Perdere Potere.  Every morning when we did the roll I said that and it seems that it made Miss Power laugh. 
I've learnt of the recipe for pizza.  There's lots of things that you can put on pizza. 
We rang Mc Donalds in Greymouth and asked them for a price on 6 chicken nuggets.  In Greymouth the chicken nuggets cost $5.80 and in Italy they cost $7.30 New Zealand dollars.  That was interesting. 

Neptune

We have been learning about planets.

I wrote a report on Neptune.

NEPTUNE

Neptune is a planet. It is the furthest planet and is the 8th planet away from the sun.   

Neptune is 4,498,000,000km from the sun. It is nearly impossible to see even through a powerful telescope.

From far away Neptune looks blue.

Neptune has rings and it has  14 moons. Neptune’s moon names are

4. Nereid
5. Halimede
6. Proteus
7. Despina
8. Psamathe
9. Sao
10. Larissa
11. Galatea
12. Naiad

Neptune is extremely cold. Neptune is the windiest planet.  It has winds 2000 km an hour. Neptune is a gas planet.  It is a bit like a frozen coke on the surface.

 

It takes Neptune 165 Earth years to orbit the sun. A day on Neptune is 16 hours and 6 minutes.  Earth’s days are longer than days on Neptune and are 24hrs.

Neptune was discovered in 1846 by an astronomer called Johann Galle.

Some day you might be lucky to go to Neptune and see all of its 14 moons. Hopefully, you won’t die from the freezing cold or be blown away in the forceful winds!

Today Grey Main School had Book Character day.  Everyone dressed up as a book character from books.  Can you guess who I was?

Trip to Antarctica

If I was going on a holiday to Antarctica this is what I’ll pack.  I would pack all these things to stay alive.  What would you pack if you went to Antarctica? What toy would you bring to Antarctica? I would bring Rat in a Hat toy.

Food

Sausages, packets of soup, tinned food, powdered=milk,

Can opener, very large pot, cup (use a can as a cup), spoon, knife, fork, plate, bowl.

Bathroom

Flannel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste,  towel, brush

Clothes

Jacket with a zip snow jacket with hood, warm jersey, thermals, snow pants,undies, snow boots, socks, snow goggles, warm beanie, thermal gloves, snow gloves, scarf.

Heating and cooking

Matches or lighter, gas burner, spare gas bottles

Doctors kit. Drink bottle.
